Editorial thoughts and the reason for the pages.

So as a first post, what to write? I guess the first thing is to clarify that I now shoot Pentax and some of the writings to follow will be centered around that platform. But in general photography principles are the same for all formats and brands. It really doesn't matter what you have for a camera as long as you enjoy the shots you take and the processes around the art form. It's a wonderful hobby and for some, a great occupation. In some of these articles, I'll talk about my professional work, in others the fun of spending the day in the field just trying to get a particular shot.

There's quite a bit of excellent internet information out there and my goal is not to compete with any of that. But to hopefully simplify some of the overly technical stuff I see. I started this because I have been an active member of several photo forums and see the same questions pop up month after month. As the longer serving members of these forums gain more experience, the answers can become somewhat technical or they get tired of answering the same questions. I often wonder how intimidated some viewers might be since their questions are valid but might seem basic to others.

I'd like to encourage viewers to comment and email questions as much as possible. I'll do my best to answer those questions and some may be the basis of future articles. So hit the email link if you see a mistake (I make many and look forward to feedback) or have a question you'd like me to try and answer. If for some reason you don't want the answer to be public, please say so in the email.

I hope you enjoy the blog as it develops. I hope to put a fair amount of time and effort into this and try to make it relevant to today's shooter.

Thanks for dropping by.
